Job Vacancy – Salaried GP

Posted on July 26th, 2021

Salaried GP Vacancy – Lechlade Medical Centre

  • Salaried GP required for 4 sessions – Thursday and Friday full days
  • Salary: from £9828 per session, dependent on experience
  • Manageable workload – capped number of patient contacts per session
  • Small, friendly and very supportive team
  • Part of a larger group practice
  • Possibility of partnership opportunity in the future if desired

We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed salaried GP to join us at our Medical Centre based in the lovely historic town of Lechlade on the edge of the Cotswolds.

The Upper Thames Medical Group population is 12,500 and we are made up of two surgeries, the Park Surgery in Cirencester and the Lechlade Medical Centre, which merged in 2017. Lechlade Medical Centre has a patient population of around 5500. We are a team of 5 partners, 6 salaried GPs, Practice Manager and 2 Deputy Practice Managers, an ANP, nurses, HCAs, pharmacists and an excellent administrative team.

We would like to recruit an additional salaried GP to work at Lechlade on a Thursday and Friday (full days). We have a telephone first system which was in place even before Covid, and which our patients are very used to and happy with. Each GP session consists of a telephone list of 15 patients, and you decide which of those you want to see face to face within that session. Some of the telephone calls are follow ups or e-consults. The system works well and means that your workload is clearly defined, and the patients you see face to face are largely those who you have already triaged. It is rare that any extra urgent patients have to be added to the list.

Other benefits include use of Messagelink between 8-8.30am and 5.30-6.30pm which means that for the last hour of the day there are no new phone calls coming in, apart from the occasional instance of an urgent case put through via Messagelink. There is a duty doctor system but there is no real difference to the workday for the duty doctor other than taking the very occasional Messagelink calls. Visit numbers are low and we work with an excellent Frailty Team.

We pride ourselves in providing excellent patient centred care, continuous service improvement and a team-based approach. Care, compassion, and humour are very important to us. We received a “Good” in the CQC inspection in 2019 and we are a training practice.

Steeped in history, Lechlade has good transport links. We are near to the M4, M5 and A420 for travel from Oxford, Swindon, Birmingham or Bristol and the local train stations are based at Kemble and Oxford. There are outstanding state and private schools within the area and a wide variety of housing options available. Lechlade is a town with a great sense of community spirit.

Please apply by email or post with CV and covering letter to the Practice Manager, Fiona David:
